CONTRACTOR: ISG

The back-to-frame redevelopment of a tired 1980s office building in the heart of Stockely Park, one of Europe’s premium established business hubs + The Bower now stands among a collection of iconic buildings designed by renowned architects within the park.

The proposal aimed to revitalise + re-engineer + expand the existing structure to deliver an additional 25,000 sqft / 2000 sqm of Grade A office accommodation, optimise the internal layout to create a contemporary + flexible + high-quality workspace, deliver a BREEAM excellent building + additionally, offer some of the largest floor areas in the Thames Valley - spanning over 140,000 sqft./13,500 sqm.

The scheme resulted in the complete removal of the existing building’s external façade + a full internal reconfiguration + architectural approach which featured new circulation cores, an expansive feature stair centred around a re-envisioned central ‘street’. This street connects to a stunning new public piazza at the building's entrance, allowing the development to harmoniously blend with the surrounding mature landscaping that was also thoughtfully upgraded.

CUNEO, ITALY

STATUS:DESIGN COMPETITION / PLANNING

SIZE: 76,000 SQFT /

7060 SQM SQFT

Plaza HQ is 76,000 sqft of Grade A office accommodation, built to uncompromised design + environmental standards. The primary objective was to develop a design which, whilst contextually sensitive + commercially aware, successfully contributed to the local character of Cuneo. The brief was to prepare Grade A office alongside new landscaping that would meet the requirements of the emerging local office market.

The building itself is arranged around a central ‘street’ which connects to a vibrant new public piazza at the building’s entrance.  This encourages the building to interact + connect with the surrounding mature landscape. The arrangement + structural grid will provide clean highly flexible workspace whilst delivering some of largest floor plates in the area.

A BREEAM rating of ‘Outstanding’ is required along with the utilisation of high-tech + low energy measures that include a biomass heating system + array of photovoltaic panels + lighting reduction measures.
